Community Baptist Church was was established on May 4, 1977. On which day, the following Articles of Faith were adopted.
I. WE BELIEVE:
1. That there is one true and living God, the Maker and Supreme Ruler
of heaven and earth. (1 (Chron. 29:11).
2. That in the Unity of the Godhead there are three persons; the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection, and
executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
(Matt. 28:19; John 10:30; Eph. 2:18).
II. WE BELIEVE IN:
1. The infallible verbal inspiration of the entire Bible. (II Tim. 3:16; II Pet. 1:21).
2. The Bible as an all-sufficient Rule of Faith and Practice. (H Tim. 3:16, 17).
3. The Genesis account of Creation, chapters 1 and 2. That the whole creation
was by the direct, creative power of God. (John 1:1-3; Col. 1:16).
III. WE FURTHER BELIEVE IN:
1. The virgin birth and Deity of Jesus Christ. (Luke 1:26-33; Matt. 1:20).
2. His crucifixion and suffering as a substitutionary sacrifice. (1 Cor. 5:21).
3. The bodily resurrection and ascension of Christ, and the bodily resurrection
of His saints. (I Cor. 15th Chapter).
4. The second coming of Christ, personally and bodily, as the crowning event
of this Gentile Age. (Acts 1:11; John 14: 1-4).
IV. WE BELIEVE THAT:
1. Because Adam the first man disobeyed God and fell from his upright state, his
spirit, mind and body are affected and defected by sin from conception and
delivery of life. (Rom. 5:19; 3:23).
2. The salvation of sinners is wholly of the grace of God through faith in Christ.
(Eph. 2:8, 9; Titus 3:5; Rom. 4:16).
3. The wicked shall be punished in hell. (Matt. 25:46; Psalm 9:17; Rev. 20:10).
4. There shall be two resurrections: one of the saved unto eternal life; the other
of the unsaved unto eternal damnation. (Rev. 20:4-6).
5. There shall be a Millennial (1000) year Reign in which Jesus Christ, with His
people, will reign over the earth in peace and prosperity. (Rev. 20:2-7).
V. WE ALSO HOLD IN COMMON WHAT TRUE BAPTISTS HAVE EVER HELD:
1. That Jesus Christ instituted His Church during His personal ministry
in the world. (Matt. 4:18-25).
2. That Christ set two Ordinances in His church; Baptism and the Lord’s
Supper… and to the church alone as an institution. (Matt. 28:18-20;
John 4:1, 2; Luke 22:19, I Cor. 11:23, 28).
3. That in His church, Christ set two ordained offices: that of pastor, and
that of deacon. The qualifications and duties of those occupying these
offices are given in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus.
4. That the Great Commission was given to the churches of Christ. (Matt.
28: 18-20; Mark 16: 15, 16).
5. That in Kingdom activities the church has all authority given it by Christ.
It is the only institution in the world having that authority. (Matt. 28:19;
Mark 16:15, 16).
6. That churches should exercise equal authority; and responsibility should
be met by them according to their several abilities. (Acts 1:8, Matt. 25:15),
7. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government,
free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organization;
and that the one and only superintendent is Christ through the Holy Spirit.
(Col. 1:18; Eph. 5: 23-24; I Pet. 5:1-4).
8. That it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other in
contending for the furtherance of the Gospel; that every church is the sole
and only judge of the measure and method of its cooperation. (Acts 15:22;
Jude 3:4; II Cor. 8: 23-24; I Cor. 16:1; Mal. 3:10; Lev. 27: 30-32; I Cor. 1,6,:2).
9. That the Bible teaches that there has been a succession of New Testament
churches such as Missionary Baptist churches from the days of Christ down
to this day, and shall continue to be. (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 3:21; Matt. 28:20).
VL WE DO FIRMLY BELIEVE:
1. ,That repentance and faith are essential to the salvation of the soul, and are
prerequisites to baptism. (Matt. 3:1-13; Acts 2:38-41).
2. That baptism is a complete immersion in water. (Matt. 3:13-17; Rom. 6:4).
3. That only baptisms administered by the authority of a Scriptural New
Testament church are Scriptural baptisms.
4. That only those who have been regenerated an Scripturally baptized are
qualified for church membership. )Acts 2:41, 47).
